Homegrown
An Online Symposium on Home-Based Creative Practice
5th February 2026 - Online
The symposium, inspired by The Severed Wing’s unique artist/gallery collaboration, brings together artists, producers and organisations to explore the possibilities and challenges of home-based and situated creative practice.
‘Grounded in the Social Model of Disability, the programme invites reflection on access, care and sustainability, and asks what it means to build artistic practices that respond to real lives and lived experience.’
This unique event is curated by LOWRY with Corinne, DASH (Disability Arts In Shropshire) and Art Riot Collective with contributions from Attenborough Arts Centre and Compton Verney.
The Severed Wing is a live art performance by Corinne, exploring their lived experience of isolation and disability.

About The Severed Wing
The Severed Wing is a new live art performance by artist Corinne, exploring their limited mobility and lived experience as a disabled person who works remotely as an artist. Live-streamed from Corinne’s bed using projections and immersive sound design, The Severed Wing is a magical, visceral and intimate live encounter between one physical space and another.
“Watch me a disabled artist confined to bed transform into a bird. Bed confinement is extremely isolating but I live by the woods and hear bird songs from my window daily. I wish to join my feathered friends, escape my confinement and transform into my true self.” - Corinne
For too long people confined to their homes or beds have a diminished presence within society, but The Severed Wing is a poignant call for change, giving voice and visibility to the experiences of confinement.
Initially piloted as part of LOWRY's Scratch Nights X Galleries in May 2024. The Severed Wing was commissioned by LOWRY and made possible with thanks to funding from Arts Council England. Also supported by Attenborough Arts Centre, Art Riot Collective, #CovConnects and QUAD.
